My Zoobie Obsession!

Whew!  It is Tuesday Novemeber 27th and I am happy to see Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind us.  I do not partake in the shopping madness that follows America's day of thankfulness.  If you do and you save money while maintaining your sanity, my hat's off to you!  Not my thing. Or maybe I am not brave enough to venture into such pandemonium.  Whatever the reason, I opt out every year.  I am a bit of a last minute shopper anyway, running around like a crazy person every Christmas Eve.  I like to say it is now a tradition of mine so as to avoid the guilt of not having my "stuff" together.  Ha! :-D
In preparing the store for the holidays I came across a product that I am absolutely in love with!  They are called Zoobies!  I added them to the catalog and will soon be ordering some for my kids.  I wanted to buy one in every character (because they are all so adorable) but my common sense talked me out of it.  My daughter wants Mashaka the Monkey because she is crazy about all things monkey and the twin boys are still deliberating.  (I secretly am hoping they choose Draco the Dragon and Kojo the Croc).  If you haven't checked them out in the store, Zoobies are soft plush toys that unfold to become pillows with a comfy fleece blanket inside!  What sets them apart though, in my opinion, is the design of the characters.  They are so unique and have such fun expressions.   They are cute, convertible and convenient(for Mom).  The blanket is removable so it can be washed and it is simple to assemble and unassemble, even for the little ones.  All this  starting at 19.99!  If you want to see more detailed information about Zoobies, check out the product demos. These 3-in-1 toys have been featured in several magazines, news sources and tv shows as shown below.  They have even become popular with celebrities!  They are award winners and a great gift idea.  Next baby shower I will probably get the lucky new arrival a Blankie Baby. These are smaller versions of the Blanket Pets and perfectly sized for a new baby.  Well, obviously I'm excited about these.  I know that you will be too!  I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and that you will enjoy every bit of the magic that is the holiday season, even those last minute dashes to Walmart, Walgreens, Toys R Us , etc on Christmas Eve.  Kids are only this innocent for a short bit of time.  Enjoy being Santa while you can!

Welcome to Cool Stuff For Girls!

Welcome to my first blog EVER! This should be interesting...or not. Ha. My goal for this post is to introduce myself and welcome you to Cool Stuff For Girls, without boring you to tears!  So here goes...

My name is Andrea.  I live in Texas with my husband and 4 kids. I have an 18 year old son, a 9 year old daughter and 6 year old twin boys! Most days that husband acts like a 39 year old son but I will spare you the details of his shenanigans at this time.  I "retired" from my job as an RN in 2003 right before I gave birth to my daughter.  If I had thoughts about returning to that job, they were quickly dashed by the news I was having twins!  All these years later, and with all the kids in school, I decided to go back to work.  But, I wanted to stay close to home and stay active in their schools and activities.  I thought "I will work from home" but wasn't exactly sure what to do.  The idea came to me to start an online retail store just for girls one day when I was shopping(or trying to shop) for myself.  Every time I go looking for something for me I come home with bags and bags of clothes for my kids, especially my daughter.  It's crazy!  Most women LOVE to shop for themselves. Not this woman!  It probably has something to do with the fact that I was and to some extent still am a tomboy.  When I was a girl, my older brother was my hero. I wanted to do everything he did.  This included playing football, baseball, boxing and going hunting and fishing.  Anything...as long as it meant I could tag along with him!  While my Mom was baking and sewing and getting all worked up over the season's "must have fashion", I was climbing trees and playing in the mud.  She really did try to make me more of a girly-girl but without much luck!  Fast forward to 2003 when the most precious baby girl was born to this tomboy. Uh Oh.  How would I ever be able to teach her to play with dolls and tea sets? Who would fix this poor child's hair and pick out her school clothes?  Not me right?  Well, I fell into the role better than expected, though I still don't like playing with dolls and fixing hair.  She was to my surprise quite the girly-girl for some time. She loved her Barbie Princesses and dressing up, nail polish and makeup, high heel shoes and pretty dresses! I was quite shocked actually.  I guess I expected her to be more like me.  I enjoyed it, however, and took advantage of this by shopping like I had never shopped before!  And I was loving it!  It is fun to shop when you don't have to try anything on.  Unlike me, she can wear anything! Then it happened.  At some point over the last year or so, my girly-girl stopped wearing dresses, stopped wanting her hair fixed, stopped playing with Barbies, decided she wanted to dress up like a chainsaw wielding Zombie Girl for Halloween, picked up archery as a hobby and insisted on playing flag football like her brothers this Fall. The girl who used to cry when I squashed an ant or a scorpion was now asking if she could go hunting with her bow! What in the world happened?  I couldn't believe it!  Just when I was starting to enjoy being the Mom of a girly-girl!  How dare she do this to me, right? :-)

Well, what I have learned from all of this is that she still has awesome style (even though some days she comes out of her room looking like Punky Brewster) and a feisty spirit that makes her one of a kind and the coolest girl I know.  So CoolStuffForGirls.com was born with the idea that not every girl has to like only pink or only tutus and dresses.  Being a girl means you can like those AND like to play football and the color blue.   I hope you are still awake and reading this and I sincerely hope you enjoy shopping with us!  Since she is my inspiration, here are a few shots of my daughter being her awesome self.  Talk to y'all later.....

My very own Katniss Everdeen

Found this on the back of one of her school papers last year. Hi world! It's me!
How cool is she?

She still likes to pose like a girl!

So long Princess Costumes. Yikes!
